Negócio sangrento





O governo australiano está a considerar deixar de exportar gado vivo para alguns países, depois de ter sido exibido, na ABC-TV um filme chocante mostrando animais a serem batidos até à morte em centros de abate na Indonésia.

O documentário tem cenas de pura crueldade contra os animais. Quando os animais não morrem da pancada que lhes é infligida na cabeça, seguem-se cenas de autêntica selvajaria e alguns animais parecem estar ainda conscientes no momento em que começam a ser desmembrados.

Numa época em que se luta pelos direitos dos animais, o documentário abriu uma enorme polémica na Austrália e o ministro da Agricultura, Joe Ludwig, já declarou ir abrir uma investigação que pode terminar com as exportações de animais vivos.

Os 14 mamíferos mais raros e estranhos do mundo





O National Geographic publicou uma série de fotografias sobre mamíferos estranhos e em vias de extinção.
Este é um Zaglossus, um gênero de equidnas nativo da Papua, Nova-Guiné, que não se sabe se ainda existe. Uma equipa de cientistas não conseguiu encontrar nenhum animal, apesar das buscas feitas em 2010, apenas tendo encontrado os buracos que eles escavam no solo. O principal problema parece ser a caça, pois a sua carne é muito apreciada.

Animais de estimação bastante estranhos


É um ponto assente que adoro animais e que já não me imagino a viver sem um. Sempre tive cães e gatos, que muitas vezes me surpreenderam, com provas de dedicação nos bons e maus momentos, e me fizeram senti-los como parte da família.
Mas, para mim, há limites no campo das dimensões e da origem dos animais. Não podem ser demasiado grandes, nem podem ter origens selvagens, o que os tornaria potencialmente perigosos, na minha maneira de ver.
Viver com um hipopótamo está muito para além desses limites! Mas, claro que todos somos diferentes, e daí haver muita gente, pelos vistos, que não pensa assim.
Além do video sobre o hipopótamo, aqui em cima, podem ver ainda 15 animais estranhos que vivem em casa ou top 10 animais que praticam desportos aquáticos.
Acho que são compilações que dão para espantar qualquer um!

Grafites de animais

O artista Belga ROA pinta animais, a preto e branco, na "selva humana" das cidades de vários países europeus. Acho os grafites espantosos e, na minha opinião, devia ser pago por criar arte em espaços públicos, feios e desprezados. Podem ver muito mais no seu blogue Roa's Work.
Está lá um vídeo incrível, Rabbit Decay, um "stop-motion" de um coelho a transformar-se em esqueleto. A primeira e última imagem do vídeo são as que estão aqui em baixo, em segundo e terceiro lugar.
